It was dark, lit only with a low-hanging, overhead light, illuminating an oak table with a single copy of Watchmen in its centre. On the walls, in deep shadow, were hundreds of sketches and notes, all Watchmen-based. They covered myriad character possibilities, from BBW Silk Specters, to GBM Night Owls, to gun-toting, fully erect Doctor Manhattans. Clearly I had some competition.

E-ink feels peaceful to me. The Kindle doesn’t feel like a computer. It feels — not to the touch but to the eyes and mind — like a crudely-typeset and slightly smudgily-printed paper book. That’s a good thing. Absolutely true. A brilliant piece by Gruber on the new Kindles, although I don’t share his feelings on the low-entry Kindle. I do believe they matter a lot and I am yet to see...
